[Gossip] Doctor Who's Sarah Jane Smith Passes Away
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 04.19.2011

Elisabeth Sladen, who played Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures, has passed away at the age of 63. Sladen, who had been suffering from cancer, died this morning.

Sladen played Sarah Jane, one of the more beloved of the Doctor's companions, during Jon Pertwee's last season as the Third Doctor from 1974 through Tom Baker's second season as the Fourth Doctor in 1965. She made a few guest appearance through the years before gaining her own spinoff series, The Sarah Jane Adventures, in 2007. That show is in production for its fifth season.

On behalf of 411, our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Elisabeth Sladen.
