[Movies] Universal and Director Marc Forster Planning to Adapt Cowboy Ninja Viking
Posted by Chad Webb on 02.28.2012

Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to the A.J. Lieberman graphic novel Cowboy Ninja Viking. Marc Forster will be directing the adaptation.

The script was developed by Disney and was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese from Zombieland. Universal acquired the property when Disney thought the material was too edgy.

The story "follows the title character who comes from a secret government program that turns schizophrenics into assassins. While most of the patients were sent back to the insane asylum after the program went awry in Iraq, the Cowboy Ninja Viking manages to escape and sets his sights on the billionaire mastermind who put him behind bars."

Plans to begin shooting will commence after Forster wraps World War Z, so next year sometime.
