Three more originals cast in new roles...
Ryan Murphy dropped some more information on the next season of American Horror Story at PaleyFest12. TV Line reports that Murphy and co-showrunner Brad Falchuk announced that three more cast members from the first season--Evan Peters (Tate), Sarah Paulson (psychic Billie Dean) and Lily Rabe (doctor's wife Nora)--would return for the new season. Like Zachary Quinto and Jessica Lange, the three will be playing different characters.
Murphy noted that "Anybody could pop up at any time," and said of the cast individuals that "Everybody will be playing the opposite of what they played." As previously reported, Lange will play the character on whom the season focuses while Quinto will play one of two male leads and serve as the main nemesis to Lange's character.
The two showrunners also said that the show would have an "equally terrifying but very different vibe" than the Harmon family story from season one. Murphy also noted that ghosts may not be involved, saying, "A supernatural element will always be a part of the show. But we're trying to do something more historically accurate."
When asked what that might entail, Murphy said, "Our only rule is no werewolves, and no vampires."
Murphy also said that while Lange won't be playing Constance in the new season, he wants to address a certain loose end about that character. "We have not lost sight of the fourth child" Constance's that she mentioned but never popped up. "We want to answer that."
The two were asked if there would be "cross-pollination" between AHS and their other show Glee. After a long laugh, they Falchuk said it'd be like hanging out with both your wife and your mistress and added, "I would not be interested."
