Vulture reports that Michael Fassbender is in talks to star in Jane Got A Gun, which will be directed by Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin) and stars Natalie Portman.
Portman (who is also producing) plays a woman married to an outlaw who returns home shot up and almost dead, betrayed by other criminals who are coming for him. Fassbender would play the ex-lover Portman tracks down to help defend her farm from the criminals.
It is being made independently with a budget of under $20 million. The film is being financed Scott Steindorff's Scott Pictures and produced by 1821 (run by Paris Latsis and Terry Dougas) and Portman's handsomecharlie films. 1821 previously produced The Box, which starred Cameron Diaz.
Jane Got A Gun is based on a script by Brian Duffield that made Hollywood's "black list" last year.
Fassbender is currently shooting The Counselor with Ridley Scott. The plan is to shoot Jane by early next year.
