[Movies] European Premiere Of Frankenweenie To Kick Off 56th London Film Festival
Posted by Joseph Lee on 09.05.2012

IGN reports that the European premiere of Tim Burton's 3D film Frankenweenie will kick off the 56th annual London Film Festival.

There are also a series of categories for films this year, including Thrill, Cut, Laugh and Love to help average audiences decide what they want to see. The festival will also include screenings of Ben Affleck's Argo, Ben Wheatley's Sightseers and Hyde Park on Hudson, which stars Bill Murray as Franklin D Roosevelt. Seven Psychopaths, Martin McDonagh's (In Bruges) film that stars Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken will also be screening, along with the Jake Gyllenhaal starring End of Watch.

Nintendo will support the event, sponsoring the screening of musical comedy The Sapphires. There will also be a screening of Spike Island, which sees a group of fans taking a trip to see the Stone Roses concert that happened at that location. Finally, the festival will end with a showing of Great Expectations which stars Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter.

The festival runs from October 10 to 21 with tickets going on sale on September 24. You can find more details and the complete schedule here.
