Shakespeare adaptation has a North American distributor...
Variety reports that Lionsgate has picked up the North American distribution rights to Joss Whedon's adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing. The film, which was shot by Whedon on the down low during the filming of The Avengers, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and Lionsgate bought the rights afterward.
The film stars many Whedon regulars, such as Amy Acker (Angel, Cabin in the Woods), Alexis Denisof (Angel, How I Met Your Mother), Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), Fran Kranz (Dollhouse, Cabin in the Woods) and Sean Maher (Firefly). The film was shot at Whedon's home over a span of twelve days and is the first film from Whedon's micro-studio Bellwether Pictures.
