The game studio's president thinks so...
Ridley Scott's Prometheus may have found its genesis in Aliens: Colonial Marines. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford spoke with IGN about the game and said that there was a meeting between the studio's Brian Martel and Scott in 2005 that he believes had some influence in the film's conceptualization.
"They talked about the Space Jockey, and they talked about the Derelict," said Pitchford. "And I have a very strong hunch that that discussion not only sparked the creative seed that led to us doing Aliens: Colonial Marines, but I have a very strong hunch that it sparked Ridley into the Prometheus film that we got."
He noted that Martel and Scott looked over the original Alien storyboards in the meeting. Check out the interview below:
