Amy Pond got emotional...
Karen Gillan says that filming her final scenes of her Doctor Who run was a very emotional time. Gillan, who ends her run as Amelia Pond next week on the show's fall finale, told the Independent that she lost it during the last scenes.
"I didn't hold it together for the full two weeks that we were shooting that episode – I was crying at anything – not even sad things," she said. "So when it came to shoot the final scenes, everything that's on screen is real!"
Gillan said that she told executive producer Steve Moffat in 2010 during the show's sixth series that she wanted to plan an exit for her character. "I honestly wanted to go on my gut instinct with the whole leaving thing, and I just had a rough idea of when would be a good time for me to go 'cause I wanted to go on a high," she noted. "I didn't want to stay in it too long and outstay my welcome. And I wanted to take the character as far as possible before it started getting a little tired."
Arthur Darvill, who plays Amy's husband Rory, is also leaving the show next week. The Doctor's new companion will be introduced during the Christmas special.
