It won't be going forward after all..
Deadline reports that Dane Cook's NBC midseason comedy series Next Caller has been canceled before it even begins. The show was given a six-episode order in May. Four episodes were filmed but the network decided the series was not what they were looking for.
Production by Lionsgate TV and Universal TV was stopped and the produced episodes won't air. It was created and executive produced by Stephen Falk. It stars Cook as a foul-mouthed satellite radio DJ forced to share his show with a NPR feminist played by Collette Wolfe. It also starred Jeffrey Tambor, Joy Osmanski and Wolé Parks.
NBC recently gave full-season pickups to Go On and The New Normal while Guys With Kids and Animal Practice have been less successful. NBC has two other midseason comedies coming up with 1600 Penn and Save Me.
