It's tracking well...
Deadline reports that the final entry in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 is tracking to be the highest-grossing film in the entire series. It will be released on November 16.
Advance tickets are selling 16% higher than Part 1 while overall the film is close to surpassing Part 1's sales, which broke records. Awareness of the film is at the highest of the series and is already in the 90s for females. Not only is it tracking better than any other film already released or about to open, it's better than Skyfall, which is tracking at 72 compared to Part 2's 88. Summit, now a part of Lionsgate, hopes the final earns more than Part 1's $138.1M opening weekend and breaks even more records.
One thing that could help is the relationship between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, which has had its share of problems lately and has been in the news. the two got back together just in time to promote the film through personal appearances and press tours. A studio representative said: "They're kids. They break up. They get back together. They're good," one exec assures me."
Summit will give "camping spots" to fans on November 8 at LA Live in front of the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. The crowds want to see the stars before the Red Carpet premiere on November 12. This happens every time one of the films is released. The studio has several events planned for that weekend.
Advance tickets have only been selling for a few days as of October 1. Part 2 already represented half of Fandango's sales for that week. 36% of today's ticket sales from Fandango is Part 2, even though it doesn't open for another three weeks. It's outselling Argo, Cloud Atlas, and Silent Hill: Revelation combined.
