Is the story made up?
TMZ reports that Ariel Winter's grandfather, James Batistas says he never saw any abuse of Winter because of her mother Chrystal Workman. Batsitas said that Workman is a "very good mother to all the children."
He added: "I have never seen any abuse from my daugther or son-in-law towards my granddaughters neither physical nor emotionally."
A judge previously decided, after hearing that Workman was abusing her 14-year-old daughter, to remove her from the home and place her in the temporary custody of her older sister Shanelle.
In a letter he wrote about the case, Batistas said that Shanelle went to live with him when she was sixteen after she accused her mother of abuse almost twenty years ago. Several sources say that Shanelle was actually in the foster care system for over two years before he got custody and moved her into his Virginian home. He only sees his granddaughters once every two years, as he still lives in Virginia. He does, however, have a close relationship with Chrystal by phone.
He ended his letter by saying he wanted to see his daughters and granddaughters back together.
