Scott Derrickson to direct the video game adaptation...
CBS Films has announced via press release that Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) will direct the feature film adaptation for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The video game was produced by Square Enix and is set in the near future, when dramatic advances in science, specifically human augmentation, have triggered a technological renaissance; it follows ex-SWAT security specialist Adam Jensen who must embrace mechanical augments in order to unravel a global conspiracy.
The film will also be written by Derrickson along with his Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill.
Derrickson commented on the announcement, saying, "Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence. By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can't wait to bring it to the big screen."
