He defends him...
E! News reports that former Elmo voice Kevin Clash's ex-boyfriend is still supporting him in the wake of his underage sex scandal.
Clash resigned from Sesame Street last week after almost three decades after being hit with two lawsuits that he had sex with minors.
Jason Murray, a 29-year-old teacher who dated Clash in 2004, said: "Kevin is not a villain. Yes, he had an affinity for younger men, but what successful [straight] man doesn't have an affinity for younger women? It's the same thing, gay or not."
Clash admitted he was gay earlier this month when Sheldon Stephens said that he had sex with Clash when he was sixteen. Stephens recanted his claims the next day, saying they had "an adult consensual relationship." Two other men named Cecil Singleton and John Doe sued him for damages, claiming they had sex with him while underage. Clash has denied any illegal activity and his attorney said both suits are without merit.
Murray said he was 21 when he met Clash at a gay club in Manhattan. He said that while they are no longer in contact he's still supportive. He added: "Does he prey on these guys? In my heart I don't believe that. I think it's like Hugh Hefner, he dates younger women. Kevin likes younger guys. I am reading the news and all the negative stuff. I don't see it. He had a good heart."
