Bryan Singer's plans for the film revealed...
As expected, the appearances of the original X-Men cast in X-Men: Days of Future Past will be used to depict the dark future in which mutants are hunted by Sentinels. As previously reported, FOX is bringing Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan and Hugh Jackman on board for the sequel to X-Men: First Class, with production set to begin in April under the direction of Bryan Singer. Now, THR reports that the plan is to have the original cast appear "appear mostly in scenes depicting an alternate dystopic future, so pay and time commitments are not substantial."
The trade notes that while the FOX has had to negotiate new deals with the original trilogy's stars, those negotiations haven't been difficult because of the aforementioned light schedule and the fact that Bryan Singer is directing. Singer's helming of the film has brought a lot of goodwill for the project from the original cast and as a source close to the production notes, "There is a lot of willingness to participate because of Bryan."
