Where will Tony come from?
Latino-Review reports that Tony Montana will now be Mexican in the new Scarface remake. The remake is also reported to take place in the world of drug cartels.
As was noted at the time, the studio was keeping the story under wraps, "but ethnicity and geography were important in the first two versions." In the 1983 film starring Al Pacino, the main character, Tony Montana, was a Cuban gangster, and indeed his ethnic origins did play a substantial role in the plot. Now, Latino-Review has done some digging and has reportedly revealed that the new Tony Montana will, in fact, be Mexican. Additionally, the remake will take place in the world of drug cartels.
