[Gossip] UPDATED: Amanda Bynes Hit And Run Charges Dismissed
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.14.2012

UPDATED: TMZ reports that the Los Angeles City Attorney is livid about a judge dismissing Amanda Bynes' hit and run charges after she reached a settlement with the victims. Sources within the office claim that the prosecutors very strongly objected to the dismissal of the two charges, based on the fact that there were multiple incidents and that Bynes has a pending DUI case.

The DA's office is still moving ahead with the DUI case.

ORIGINAL: Radar Online reports that the two misdemeanor charges against Amanda Bynes were dismissed against her in a Van Nuys, California court this week.

A source said: "Amanda Bynes was able to reach a civil compromise in both of her hit and run cases. The two separate victims agreed to dismiss the charges after a financial settlement was reached with both. This is routinely done when both sides are able to come to an agreement, and there really is no need to pursue legal charges because damages to their respective vehicles was paid for. Amanda's lawyer, Richard Hutton, advanced the case and went in early to avoid the media, and the judge (Wednesday) signed off on the deal in which the prosecutor also approved. Amanda took responsibility for her actions, and the court recognized that."

Bynes previously pleaded not guilty in the cases. She's not completely off the hook, as she still has separate charges of DUI and two counts of driving on a suspended license to deal with. She recently moved to the East Coast from California and has been living in a five star hotel in mid-town Manhattan. She is hoping to start her own clothing line.

Another source said: "Amanda is really a little girl lost and doesn't ever want to go back to Los Angeles. Amanda has been in contact with her parents recently, though they only communicate by text messages. Her parents are very concerned about her health, but there is very little they can do to help her."
