[TV] Game of Thrones Season Three Episodes to Run a Little Longer
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.18.2012

According to Entertainment Weekly, the season three episodes of Game of Thrones will run a little longer than they have in the past. Showrunner Dan Weiss had the following to say about the change…

"There's almost another full episode's worth of extra minutes spread across the season. One of the great liberties with HBO is we're not forced to come in at a specific time. We can't be under 50 minutes or over 60, but that gives us a lot of flexibility."

Weiss' co-showrunner David Benioff added the following…

"A super-sized season, as befitting Storm of Swords. Last year we had a lot of 52-minute episodes. This year is a lot of 56, 57."

The article also adds that the third season finale is expected to run more than an hour. Season three debuts on March 31st, 2013.
