Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 12.19.2012

Billington announced the twenty-five films that have been chosen for inclusion within the Registry, which was established by Congress in 1989 to preserve films that are "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films," showcasing the range and diversity of American film heritage to increase awareness for its preservation. Included in the films added to Registry this year are Breakfast at Tiffany's, A Christmas Story, Dirty Harry, The Times of Harvey Milk and The Matrix.
