The series that wouldn't die...
Shock Till You Drop reports that The Weinstein Company have set a release date of January 3, 2014 for The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes. The film was originally set to come out this year.
It was announced in 2011 as a joint project between Dimension Films and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister). Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands were set to write and direct. It's unknown if they are still involved.
Here's a synopsis: This latest entry in the series taps into the "found footage" format and presents an ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, who leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror, only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.
