Radar Online and The New York Post report that Demi Moore was shocked when Ashton Kutcher filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday. However, she didn't let the shock stop her from going out with a male friend on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Moore has had a rough year that included a stay in rehab and a damaged relationship with her daughters Rumer, Tallulah and Scout. She hoped that she could settle with Kutcher and then file divorce papers.
A source said: "Demi had hoped to negotiate a financial settlement quietly and then file paperwork afterwards to show the matter had been settled. Demi was asking for so much money, and [the negotiation] was dragging on so long, that Kutcher got fed up and filed papers, which means their divorce negotiations will become more public."
Kutcher cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce, which comes after six years of marriage. Some legal experts think he was motivated to file before the end of the year for tax reasons.
Kutcher has been spending his time with new girlfriend Mila Kunis, as the two spent Christmas with his family in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
