According to Deadline, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in the running for the role of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) in Guardians of the Galaxy. Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) and Zachary Levi (Chuck) were previously rumored as being considered for the part.
Peter Quill, which is the character likely to be the central protagonist of the film, was raised on Earth, but learns that his father was from outer space and is drawn into an intergalactic conflict that eventually leads to him becoming the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Other characters expected to be in the film in the film are Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Racoon and Gamora.
