[Movies] Senate Intelligence Committe Members Want to Know if CIA Misled Producers of Zero Dark Thirty Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 01.03.2013
Does the senate know the movie is a fictionalized account?
Deadline reports that Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz) and Carl Levin (D-Mich) released two letters today which were sent to Acting CIA Director Michael Morell last month about the agency's involvement with the movie Zero Dark Thirty.
In the December 19 letter, the lawmakers wanted to know if "the filmmakers could have been misled by information they were provided by the CIA" in regards to the role torture played in getting information that lead to locating Osama bin Laden.
Three weeks ago, the same senators wrote a letter to Sony Pictures' Michael Lynton which claimed the movie was "grossly inaccurate" on its subject matter. It also came one day after the committee said it would review CIA records of contact officials possibly had with Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal.
