The online viral sensation hits TV...
Comedy Central has ordered a weekly, half-hour series, Drunk History where historical reenactments by A-list talent are presented by inebriated storytellers.
The announcement was made by Kent Alterman, head of Original Programming and Production of Comedy Central. The show will be produced by Gary Sanchez Productions and executive produced by creator and star Derek Waters, writer and director Jeremy Konner, and also Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy and Owen Burke. The show will premiere with eight episodes this summer.
Alterman stated: "As they always say…history, like revenge, is a dish best served drunk." McKay says: "Will and I have always believed booze brings out truth. Sometimes that truth involves hitting on airport bar janitors or eating cheese fries at 4 a.m. But in this case, we hope that truth will shine on our nation's history."
Drunk History originated as a web series which features drunken and incoherent narration of historical moments. Here's video of the web version of the show:
