The movie might finally materialize...
Deadline reports that New Line Cinema has hired commercials director Dan Trachtenberg to helm the adaptation of the highly acclaimed comic series, Y: The Last Man by writer Brian K. Vaughn and artist Pia Guerra.
A film version for the comic has been planned as far back as almost ten years since the comic first debuted. Previously, directors such as DJ Caruso were attached to the project with Shia LaBeouf set to star as Yorick Brown, the last man on Earth.
Trachtenberg will work from a screenplay by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia. The comic tells the story of Yorick Brown, a young escape artist who along with his pet capuchin monkey Ampersand, are the only survivors of a plague that wiped out every male with a y chromosome on the planet. Yorick teams up with a government operative and scientist to uncover the truth behind the plague.
