David Fincher is in talks to direct an adaptation of the novel Gone Girl. The novel, which is written by Gillian Flynn, is a mystery-thriller about of a woman who disappears on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary. Her husband, the town's "golden boy," is suspected of being involved, though he maintains his innocence.
According to Variety, Fincher is still set to direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and it could be his next film before this one. Reese Witherspoon is producing the film along with Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon; whether Witherspoon is eying a role in the film or not isn't known.
