[Movies] Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms Role In Terminator 5 Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.23.2013
Hoping to begin pre-production this year...
NME reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he will appear in Terminator 5. During a press junket in London (attended by Empire), he mentioned the sequel along with Triplets and King Conan as his upcoming projects. He was promoting the UK release of The Last Stand.
Later on, in a video chat with The Sun, he said: "They're writing right now Terminator 5. There have been some writers on it for the last year-and-a-half and they could not pull it off. We have told them over and over that they are going in the wrong direction, now they've finally got rid of those writers and they've got new really quality writers. Now they're going in the right direction. I think this year the script will be finished and we will be able to go into pre-production."
It was revealed earlier this month that executive producer Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar) was hired to co-write the new film with writer-director Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, Dracula 2000). Producer Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty), who owns the rights to the franchise, and her brother David, CEO of Skydance Productions (Star Trek Into Darkness, Jack Reacher).
Schwarzenegger played the cyborg in three films between 1984 and 2003. He wasn't in the last film, Terminator Salvation in 2009, which starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington.
