[Movies] Ron Howard To Direct In The Heart of the Sea?
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.24.2013

Ron Howard has reportedly been offered a chance to direct Chris Hemsworth in a second film. Vulture reports that Howard has been given an offer to helm In The Heart of the Sea, which Hemsworth is attached to star in. The film would be their second together following the upcoming racing biopic Rush.

The film is based on Nathaniel Philbrick's book about the ill-fated whaling ship Essex. The ship left Nantucket for the South Pacific in 1819, where it was attacked by an angry sperm whale. The survivors ended up adrift at sea for months and resorted to cannibalism.

Howard is also looking at potentially directing The Graveyard Book and All I've Got, but those films are still in development while See could go into production this fall.
