Robotech could be coming to the screen...
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Nic Mathieu is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct a potential film adaptation for Robotech>
Robotech was an American re-version of three different anime shows from Japan in cluding Macross that aired in the 1980's. Robotech is best described as a sci-fi epic that sees humanity develop new giant transforming robots called veritechs made from alien spacecraft technology that crashed on Earth. Mankind is then forced into a civil war with an alien race of giants called the Zentradi who seek to mine the energy source called "protoculture."
Robotech has previously been written by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar and Lawrence Kasdan. There is no word yet on if future rewrites are being done. Akiva Goldsman, Joby Harold, Tobey Maguire, Matthew Plouffe and Tory Tunnell are attached to produce.
