[Movies] J.J. Abrams Will Still Produce Star Trek 3 Despite Directing Star Wars Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.25.2013
And he may still direct too...
J.J. Abrams is officially the master of the universe. As we all know and freaked out over (good or bad), Abrams was revealed on Thursday as the director behind Star Wars: Episode VII. That threw some serious question into what his status for the Star Trek franchise may be; as you are likely aware, he directed both the reboot and Star Trek Into Darkness which releases in May.
Worry not Trekkers, because according to Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore, Abrams is not done with Gene Roddenberry's world. Moore told the LA Times that Abrams "still be involved in some capacity with a possible third Trek movie, at the minimum as a producer, if not also directing the film."
Moore also noted that he will be involved in the next Mission: Impossible film as well. But more importantly, Abrams now holds both the Star Wars and Star Trek universes in the palms of his hands.
