Pic earns Best Ensemble while Lincoln takes home two awards...
The Oscar race for Best Picture has just become mighty interesting. Argo won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award, the top prize at the SAG Awards, to put it in prime position to potentially take the Oscar away from Lincoln's clutches. Argo has now won the top prizes for the Golden Globes, the Producer's Guild of America Awards and the SAG Awards, giving it the momentum heading toward the Academy Awards despite being Ben Affleck not nominated for Best Director at the Oscars. While only three films have won Best Picture without getting a Best Director nomination, winning the top prizes for the PGA and SAG Awards seems to give Argo the support of the biggest voting blocks.
Don't feel too bad for Lincoln though, as the film picked up Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards for Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones, respectively. Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook and Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables, continuing what seems like an inevitable run to the Oscar for both of them.
