[Gossip] Ashton Kutcher Had A Health Scare Preparing To Play Steve Jobs
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.28.2013

USA Today reports that Ashton Kutcher tried a fruit-only diet to prepare for his role of Steve Jobs in the biopic Jobs, which Jobs is believed to have used himself. It ended up sending Kutcher to the hospital with pancreas issues. Jobs died of pancreatic cancer on October 5, 2011.

Kutcher said: "First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to like severe issues I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain. My pancreas levels were completely out of whack. It was really terrifying ... considering everything."

Jobs is the first of two biopics about his life. It is based on a screenplay from Aaron Sorkin and was produced by Sony Pictures. It will be released in April. Joshua Michael Stern directs. Josh Gad plays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. It follows the two from the company's beginnings (shot in the Palo Alto, California garage where it started) to the launch of the iPod in 2001.

Kutcher says he studied hundreds of hours of Steve Jobs tapes to emulate his walk and demeanor. He added: "We both have a ravenous interest in the tech space. He's a guy that failed and got back on the horse. I think we can all sort of relate to that in some place in our life where we are moving forward with something and we fall down. You have to have the guts to get back up and go again. I think I share that as well."

The film premiered at Sundance on Friday, where it received a standing ovation. Kutcher and Gad then attended a party honoring Jobs at the Sundance venue Nur Khan presents NK Hosts house.
