[Movies] Taken Director To Helm Sean Penn In Prone Gunman Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.28.2013
A new thriller...
French director Pierre Morel (Taken) is in talks to direct Sean Penn in the new thriller Prone Gunman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be produced by Silver Pictures' Joel Silver and Andrew Rona.
The film is based on the novel by Jean-Patrick Manchette and script by Peter Travis. It focuses on an international operative named Martin Terrier (Penn), who is betrayed by the organization he works for and has to go on the run in Europe.
This will be Penn's entry into the action genre. Morel previously helped reinvent Liam Neeson as an action star with Taken in 2008. A sequel was then released last year. Silver and Studio Canal (who are financing the film) are looking for a spring 2013 production start in Europe. It's unknown if it will go through Silver's new deal at Universal or in another studio. Silver just finished production on Non-Stop, a thriller starring Neeson and Julianne Moore.
