The judge may refuse...
Radar Online reports that Lindsay Lohan's attorney Shawn Holley may have filed legal documents to be dismissed from Lindsay Lohan's most recent legal case, but Judge Stephanie Sautner may not sign off on it.
A source said: "The paperwork has been submitted for Shawn to withdraw from representing Lindsay. However, it needs Judge Sautner's approval before it becomes official. If she has any concerns that Lohan is having trouble obtaining new counsel, Judge Sautner could order Shawn to remain on the case until that situation is remedied. It appears that Lindsay's new attorney, Mark Heller, who is New York City based, is currently in limbo when it comes to acquiring a law license that will allow him to practice in California. It's not uncommon at all for a judge to NOT allow an attorney to break ties with a client during an ongoing case. It happens all the time."
Heller was previously suspended from practicing law for several years after being found guilty of professional misconduct. She has been ordered to appear on Sautner on Wednesday for her charges of lying to police after a car accident in Santa Monica last summer. Her latest case was transferred to Sautner, which may not end well for her.
Sautner oversaw her probation in the necklace theft case, and warned her at the end: "Live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work. I don't expect to see you again. You know what you have to do."
Meanwhile, Lohan still owes Holley a whopping $300k in unpaid legal fees.
