What movies does Nolan love?
In an official post on the Criterion, Christopher Nolan revealed his Top 10 Criterion Collection DVD and Blu-rays.
1. The Hit(director Stephen Frears)
2. 12 Angry Men (director Sidney Lumet)
3. The Thin Red Line (director Terrence Malick)
4. The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (director Fritz Lang)
5. Bad Timing (director Nicolas Roeg)
6. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (director Nagisa Oshima)
7. For All Mankind (director Al Reinert)
8. Koyaanisqatsi (director Godfrey Reggio)
9. The Complete Mr. Arkadin (director Orson Wells)
10. Greed (director Erich von Stroheim).
Technically the 10th pick isn't on Criterion, but he hopes it will one day. Nolan has worked with two of the stars of Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (David Bowie in The Prestige and Tom Conti in The Dark Knight Rises) and has said The Dark Knight was influenced by The Testament of Dr. Mabuse. He said the film is "essential research for anyone attempting to write a supervillain."
