[Movies] GI Joe: Retaliation Director Jon Chu in Talks with Disney for Matched
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 01.31.2013

The Hollywood Reporter reports that GI Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu is in talks to direct Matched for Walt Disney Pictures. David Slade was previously attached to the project.

Previously there was talk of Chu adapting a new screen adaptation for the He-Man and the Masters of the Unvierse property for Mattel and Sony Pictures.

The movie is based on the young adult sci-fi romance book seires by Aly Condie. The first book is officially described as follows:

"In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die. Cassia has always trusted their choices, but she begins to question just how perfect her world really is when she notices things are not what they seem. As Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility, she is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow."

Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing the project for Offspring Entertainment. Chu previously worked with Shankman and Gibgot on Step Up 2: the Streets and Step Up 3D. Michelle and Kieran Mulroney wrote the script.
