A new take on the novel...
Guillermo del Toro is set to produce a new version of the 1911 novel The Secret Garden. Deadline reports that Del Toro will produce the film for Universal Pictures with Lucy Alibar (Beasts of the Southern Wild) providing the script.
This is the latest of several adaptation of the novel. It follows a 10-year old girl, Mary Lennox, who befriends a crippled boy her age, Colin and who discovers the titular garden, a magical place that, each time the pair visit, begins to heal Colin's disablity. The new version will still be set in the earliest twentieth century but will take place in the American South rather than England.
