[Movies] Netflix And Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Announce Deal
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.05.2013

Coming Soon reports that Netflix and Flavor Unit Entertainment, the production company owned by Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere, have announced an exclusive licensing agreement for movies in the US.

Netflix will have its pick of films just after their theatrical release. Flavor Unit was responsible for films like Bringing Down The House and Beauty Shop. The deal begins in the spring. Netflix users will have access to films like the thriller House of Bodies (starring Terrence Howard and Peter Fonda) and Percentage (starring Ving Rhames, Cam'ron and Macy Gray).

Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix, said: "We are delighted to work with Queen Latifah to be the exclusive destination for what are sure to be relevant, entertaining movies. Queen Latifah has a long track record of creating hits and Flavor Unit Entertainment is a fresh and exciting voice in the industry."

Latifah added: "Shakim and I are thrilled to do business with Netflix. Netflix is such a strong brand and the perfect place to showcase our projects."

The company is also responsible for the Lifetime remake of Steel Magnolias, which starred Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott and Alfre Woodard. It was the third most-watched show on the network with 6.5 million viewers.
