Screen Daily reports that Tod "Kip" Williams (Paranormal Activity 2) will direct John Cusack in the adaptation of Stephen King's Cell for Cargo Entertainment.
Paranormal Activity 2, Williams' last film, earned $175 million worldwide.
The film was adapted by King and Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left. It focuses on a graphic artist who tries to reach his wife and son after a pulse transmitted through mobile phones wreaks havoc on society. Production will begin in May. Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten and Shara Kay will produce. Saperstein, president of Dimension Films, also handled 1408 (which made $130 million) and The Mist.
