The latest from John Grisham...
Fox 2000 and New Regency have acquired the rights to The Racketeer, John Grisham's latest novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Double Feature Films (Contagion, World Trade Center), the company run by Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher (Django Unchained) will produce the film. Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is developing the film and will likely direct. He will also executive produce with his manager and producing partner Shelley Browning.
The film follows the events after a federal judge is murdered at a lakeside cabin and the contents of his safe are revealed. The only man who knows what is going on is a former attorney serving time in prison and hope to get revenge on the people who put him there. The book was released in October with a printing of 1.5 million copies. It went to #1 on The New York Times and USA Today best-seller charts and has been on those lists ever since. A writer is currently being sought for the project.
