Studio to distribute the film...
Lindsay Lohan's new film The Canyons has been acquired by IFC Films. The studio announced today that they have picked up the North American distribution rights to the film, which is based on a script by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Paul Schrader. The film stars Lohan and adult film star James Deen.
The film will get a simultaneous release in theaters and on digital platforms in the early summer and will also receive a special presentation at the Film Society of LIncoln Center, which will be followed by a Q&A with Schrader and the New York Film Festival's Director of Programming Kent Jones.
The film is about "the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20's and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence."
