[Movies] Jason Momoa Reportedly Passes on Guardians of the Galaxy Role of Drax
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.24.2013

IGN reports that actor Jason Momoa has apparently passed on the role of Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy role.

Momoa was said to have been offered the role earlier this month, but apparently his rep countered Marvel's initial offer. Marvel is now screen testing actors for the role again. Other performed reported to have tested for the role are Dave Bautista, Brian Patrick Wade, and Isaiah Mustafa.

Momoa has previously appeared in Game of Thrones and Stargate Atlantis on TV. He starred in such movies as Conan the Barbarian and Bullet to the Head both of which bombed at the box office. So his turning down a role in a big Marvel Studios movie, even if its comparable to roles he might have played in the past seems like a questionable career move.

Guardians of the Galaxy will film this summer in England. It's set for an August 1, 2014 release.
