A big win for ABC...
This year's Academy Awards were up from last year's, likely thanks to host Seth MacFarlane and more mainstream films being up for awards (like Best Picture winner Argo). Fast nationals show a 12.1 rating in the demographic, up from last year's 10.3 (which rose to 11.7 in the final nationals). The show ran until about midnight ET. Viewer numbers were up as well.
ABC won the night with 32.4 million viewers and an 18.7 rating/28 share in households. It was followed by CBS (5.7 million, 3.6/5), FOX (2.9 million, 1.7/3) and NBC (2.8 million, 1.8/3).
In the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC won again with a 10.1 rating followed by FOX (1.3), CBS (1.1) and NBC (0.8).
