[Movies] Michelle Obama Was First and Only Person in White House to View Best Picture Oscar Envelope
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.25.2013

Despite what you might imagine, only one person got to view the Best Picture envelope that Michelle Obama opened from the White House live on the Academy Awards last night, and it was Michelle herself. TMZ quotes a rep from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences who says that the envelope was not opened and inspected before the First Lady opened it live on the air.

"First Lady Michelle Obama was the first and only person to open the Best Picture envelope," said the rep. "PwC [PricewaterhouseCoopers] accountants are the only individuals who have knowledge of the results prior to their live reveal on the Oscars."
