Depp set to play a scientist and then an infamous mobster...
Deadline reports that Johnny Depp has lined up his next two movie projects.
The first of which will be Transcendence, which Depp begins filming in April. The movie comes from director Wally Pfister, the Academy Award-winning cinematographer of the Christopher Nolan Batman movie trilogy, and executive producer Chris Nolan. In the movie, Depp will reportedly play a scientist who is working on a programming code for the world's first fully self-ware computer.
After Transcendence, Depp is set to star Black Mass in the summer. The movie is a true crime story based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob written by Dick Lehr and Gerald O'Neill. The book chronicles the exploits of Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger who will be played by Depp.
Barry Levinson will direct the movie from a script that is being written by Jez Butterworth.
