Legendary sci-fi series going the route of Buffy and Smallville...
The X-Files is coming back, albeit not in a form that fans may have been expecting. IDW Publishing and Twentieth Century Fox announced at Emerald City Comic-Con that The X-Files: Season 10 will be coming in the form of a comic book series. The change in format follows in the footsteps of fanboy-friendly series like Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel as well as WB's Smallville which have seen continuations in comic book form.
The series will be written by Joe Harris (Great Pacific), with artwork by artist Michael Walsh and colorist Jordie Bellaire. IDW Chris Ryall spoke during the announcement, saying, "It was already an incredibly exciting prospect to tell stories set after the second The X-Files movie, especially after Joe Harris worked up such a great plan in that regard., But my excitement level went off the charts after a meeting with Chris Carter, where he agreed to come aboard and executive produce our Season 10. In much the same way Joss Whedon steered our Angel: After the Fall series, Chris has graciously returned to do the same here. What do The X-Files look like in this increasingly paranoid and untrusting post-Wikileaks era? Well, they look like canon to me... and come June, the rest of the world will be able to see it for themselves, too."
The first story arc, which launches on June 19th, will be titled "Believers" and will see Scully and Mulder living normal lives together under secret identities when a visit from an old friend informs them that someone is hunting down everyone involved in The X-Files.
