According to superherohype.com, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has officially passed the $1 billion at the box office. The film has earned $301.1 million domestically and $700 million internationally, and is the 15th film to break the one billion mark.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is scheduled to hit theaters on December 13, 2013, while The Hobbit: There and Back Again will hit theaters December 17, 2014.
