The Force is strong with the President...
Barack Obama's fanboy faux pas last week has been defended by Lucasfilm. In case you were busy paying attention to the whole sequester thing and not minor verbal mistakes (which would differentiate you from most of the internet), Obama was speaking during a press conference on Friday about the sequester and said that regarding Congress he wasn't able to "somehow do a Jedi mind meld with these folks to convince them to do what's right." The internet exploded at Obama's suggestion that mind melds were a Jedi thing when it is a Vulcan thing, meaning that he had confused Star Wars and Star Trek. The White House Twitter even poked some fun at Obama, posting:
Now Lucasfilm has stepped in to defend Obama from raging fanboys, issuing the following statement via a spokesperson: "President Obama might have created a mash-up of Star Wars friends at Lucasfilm and Star Trek but he also might be a lot more savvy with his knowledge of Star Wars than anyone is giving him credit for. In some of the Star Wars spin-off books there is a 'Force Meld'. All of President Obama's friends at Lucasfilm would love to believe that his expertise in Star Wars knowledge runs deep..."
A Force Meld is when Force users join their minds together and combine their Force power.
