Is this goodbye for America's favorite serial killer?
Zap2It reports that while this doesn't make it official, CBS President and CEO Les Moonves has said that season eight of Dexter will be the last.
Moonves made the comments during the 2013 dbAccess Media, Internet & Telecom conference, the moderator asked Moonves to describe what programming was coming on CBS. Moonves replied: "We have 'Ray Donovan' coming on, with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with 'Dexter's last season starting in June..."
It's not an official announcement by any means, but since Showtime is a subsidiary of CBS Corp, it's likely Moonves knows the cable network's upcoming lineup.
It was rumored that the series would come to an end, especially after the events of season seven. Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) found out Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) secret and ended up killing LaGuerta (Lauren Valez) over it. The season had record ratings and was praised for its storyline.
