Daily Show host taking time off for his first directorial effort...
Jon Stewart is set to take some time off from The Daily Show to direct his first film. The New York Times reports that Stewart will take a twelve-week hiatus this summer to direct Rosewater, an indie drama based on his own script.
The film is based on the memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival by Canadian-Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy. The book is about Bahari's jailing in Iran in 2009 for four months over Iran's accusation that he was plotting a revolution. Bahari's captors used a Daily Show sketch in which Bahari had participated where Jason Jones was pretending to be a spy in support of their claims.
While Stewart is taking time off, Jon Oliver will guest host in his place.
