[Movies] Christina Hendricks To Star In A Book of Common Prayer Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.05.2013
From director Campbell Scott.
Variety reports that Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) will star in Campbell Scott's adaptation of Joan Didion's A Book of Common Prayer. Marcia Weiss will produce.
The novel was published in 1977. It focuses on "Charlotte Douglas, an American woman who arrives in a fictional Central American country that is on the verge of revolution and inexplicably imagines it is the place where she will be reunited with her fugitive 19-year-old daughter. [It is] told through the eyes of an American anthropologist, long married into the ruling family, who tries to decipher the meaning of Charlotte's journey."
Scott and Weiss said: "We are thrilled that Christina has agreed to come on board to play the lead role of Charlotte Douglas. Charlotte is a complex and compelling character and Christina is the perfect actor to play her."
The script has been adapted by Joyce McKee and Rachel LeMin.
Scott's last directed films include Off the Map, Final, Company Retreat and Big Night, which he wrote (and is co-directing). He also acts, and was last seen in The Amazing Spider-Man as Richard Parker.
